14 Months

Ainsley has been 14 months for two weeks now. What a personality she has too! We laugh at her all of the time. Although sometimes we have to turn our heads to laugh because she does something she knows she isn't supposed to be doing. But her facial expressions just kill us! She is still a pretty serious little one. But can talk, and talk, and talk when around people she knows or in the car. Here are some new things about Ainsley from the past month...

~She no longer enjoys her car seat. Considering we are going to be going on a very long car ride here soon, there will be lots of toys and snacks going along with us. She throws fits or sits there and screams while we are driving. On the other hand, if she's not doing this she's little miss chatter box.
~So, the worried momma in me made her a doctor's visit to be checked out because I felt like her mobility was behind in some ways (given she was so early I shouldn't be so worried). I won't go into all of the details, but the extent of her gross motor (her fine motor is great!) was "cruising" everywhere. She would walk anywhere if holding on to something. But in terms of anything else- nothing. I worried and worried to the point where I was thinking about it all of the time. It doesn't help that I have worked with Toddlers for the past 2 and 1/2 years, so I see what all they can do and at what age they typically do it. Well, the doctor checked her out on a Friday and he didn't seemed worried. Then what happened? That next Monday she began crawling. The week of the doctor's visit she had started pulling up in her crib to her knees, so that was new as well. Therefore, as of the last couple of weeks she is now pulling up, crawling, and pretty much can walk any distance, but usually still relies on things around her for comfort. That little stinker!
~She has all of a sudden become a picky eater. She definitely knows what she wants and if we don't give it to her she throws a little fit. She has discovered the food cabinet (we don't have a pantry :( and will bring us food (peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, little bags of snacks, etc.) My dad babysat Ainsley the other day and gave in to his sweet grandbaby when she brought him some food. Let's just say she had a very large snack within an hour of dinner time and I got to clean up the mess!
~She now points to things ALL OF THE TIME. I love it! Because it's showing us what she is interested in, what she is wanting, and what things she notices in her surroundings.
~Very into playing with Bella and giving her her toys or throwing her the ball.
~Recognizes words and phrases, such as: "Where's your bow?" "Brush your hair!" "Blow a kiss!" "Where's Bella?" "Where's Daddy...Momma...Pop, etc.?" "Pat your belly!" "Love the baby." "Do you want a drink?" "Do you want a bite?" "Where's your paci?" "Do you want your blanky?" "Where's the dog?" (Of course some of these she will only do depending on her mood or what is happening at the time...)
~Is into EVERYTHING! Loves opening the cabinets to pull things out and especially loves opening the top to Bella's toy basket and emptying it.
~Bedtime has become a process. I still rock her and give her some milk, but she is still in the go, go, go mode and it takes a while to get her to settle down. She will take a couple of sips of milk, put her paci in, take a couple of sips, paci, sips, paci, sips, paci....She does this until her milk is gone.
~Says "Momma" a lot! And has started saying "Dadda" too.
~Loves music.

Okay. I'll stop rambling now because I could go on and on! I just want to put this down for my own record keeping to be able to look back at all of the new things she does each month. I LOVE my baby girl to pieces. She is my joy and she is a momma's girl!

Memorial Weekend

I'm obviously behind given this is from almost a month ago. Time is precious these days and blogging never seems to make it to the top of my "to do" list. We spent a wonderful holiday with some close family friends swimming, playing corn hole, and eating pizza. Here are some pics to prove it!

Ainsley with her buddy, Maddox

Maddox is ALL BOY, no doubt about it. He is EVERYWHERE and doesn't mind at all crawling around on dirt, sticks, wooden decks, concrete...What a cutie pie!

Was not a fan of the pool!

Sweet baby Owen Kate, a.k.a. Ainsley's lunch buddy (at least) twice a week.

Loved her some chocolate chip rice crispy treat!

Maddox did too...
